Over the years she has gone through many life experiences that forced her to question the role of faith. Is it something that everyone is born with? Do people simply mimic the traditions of their family and environment which, in this case, revolved around the Baptist church that her father pastored? How does one move from not having faith to having faith or from having faith through others to having faith from within oneself?

Using the author's life experiences, along with the experiences of 18 others, Scarred But Unscathed gives the reader a unique perspective on faith by providing an introduction to a theoretical framework and taking the reader on a journey of discovery. The stories range from conquering dependency on addictive substances to surviving a life-threatening attack, from living through car accidents to growing through loved ones' deaths. In some cases it is evident that the experience transcends the reality that we are familiar with and requires the reader to look beyond what is in the physical realm to what may be in the spiritual realm. In reading these stories, the reader may have to dispense with pure logic and put on the lens of a voyager on a trip to an unchartered region.

The author does not write the book to argue about the existence of God or to determine the penultimate definition of faith. She does not claim to be a Bible scholar or theologian. She writes to share how faith grew in her, to introduce a framework that speaks to the development of faith and to provoke readers to look at their lives and think about whether their faith - whatever it may be - has served/is serving them. She nudges the reader to consider whether they have been true to what they believe in, and to perhaps consider making changes if s/he thinks it is warranted. The book concludes with "Exercises to Grow Your Faith" that can be used by individuals, small groups or church study groups as a guide for self-reflection.

Dr. Jennifer G. Sneed was born in Chicago, Illinois and began her education at Henry Horner Elementary School before her family relocated to Bloomington, Illinois. She graduated from the public schools of Bloomington-Normal (Illinois), earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special Education from Illinois State University, and went on to earn her doctorate in Educational Administration with a specialization in Education Policy, Politics and Law from the University at Albany/State University of New York.

Dr. Sneed is the daughter of the late Rev. Leo Sneed. Rev. Sneed pastored Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington, IL, followed by the South Calvary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN. Rev Sneed, who passed in 2013, played an instrumental part in providing a deep spiritual foundation for his daughter. Dr. Jennifer Sneed grew up in church. She attended Sunday School, worship services and special programs. She sang in the choirs, learned how to create programs, was introduced to, and mastered the use of the technology of the times, and had many opportunities to speak publicly. These experiences not only exposed her to the fundamentals of Christian beliefs but placed her at the ready for the rest of her life.

Dr. Sneed identifies as a preacher's kid who has lived in the community of faith all her life, even before she could put words together into a sentence. She has observed church goers - members and non-members, church dynamics and operation, and church etiquette in the Black church. She has taken in hundreds of sermons by numerous preachers - some pastors and some not. She has attended and participated in many church events and activities including "ministries" and "auxiliaries" to arrive at the person she is today.

God is Hilarious: My Rescue Story https://nonfictioninterviews.com/product/god-is-hilarious-my-rescue-story/ https://nonfictioninterviews.com/product/god-is-hilarious-my-rescue-story/#respond Fri, 05 Mar 2021 23:03:13 +0000 https://nonfictioninterviews.com/?post_type=product&p=5777 Never in a million years could I have imagined finding myself locked inside of a behavioral psychiatric lockdown facility. I was living in the greatest nightmare of my life. In the midst of it all, the Spirit of God undeniably came to me and rescued me.

Although everything before me told me otherwise, within me there lay an inner peace that I couldn't explain. When I was desperate, God found me. He had a lot to teach me. He was determined to heal my heart once and for all. Nothing had worked in the past. This time, He chose to use whatever means necessary to get my attention. Humor was certainly not on my radar.

Yet He surprised me at every turn. He took on his many bizarre forms, and He got my attention. He left me with zero doubt that His promises are true. I am now certain that I am never alone. I am certain of how very loved I am, and I cannot foresee there ever being a time when I will ever feel lost again.

"This gripping auto-biographical account of a nurse's harrowing journey through life and 'standard medical treatment' for 'non-standard' medical conditions, outlines the incredible challenges she has endured to not only survive, but to become a stronger person who is committed to advocating for the many whose lives have taken a detour from 'normality. For fellow sufferers, their families and friends, this work will help gain insight and help their healing process."

Dr. Umesh A. Patel, MD FACC

"A remarkable story of how one woman clung to God's truth of her, regardless of the misperceptions of those around her, and pulled herself out of the darkest thoughts and feelings that led her to conscious choice of attempting suicide."

"To restore the mind and body, one has to feel it to heal it, and have an open mind and an open heart to see the unseen, feel the unfelt, and hear the unheard. April is a living testimony to the process of healing her mind and body with empowering herself to learning greater truths. This is a must read for anyone touched by thoughts and feelings of suicide."

The Open Door https://nonfictioninterviews.com/product/the-open-door/ https://nonfictioninterviews.com/product/the-open-door/#respond Fri, 05 Mar 2021 21:59:13 +0000 https://nonfictioninterviews.com/?post_type=product&p=5768 HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT is happening to society? Have you ever considered it has everything to do with the breakdown of the family? I certainly did. So, I went searching, and my journey took me back to my great grandmother. It is no wonder why God warns us about sin. It is like a canker disease that attacks not only one tree (family) but the entire orchard (society).

I wanted to stop this deadly cycle from affecting my children and their children to come. However, what I found was not always easy to hear. What I found was dark, cold and painful. Yet discovering and acknowledging family truths is the first step in gaining understanding, forgiveness and navigating out of the dysfunctional comfort zone.

Changing familiar, family behavior can leave you isolated and doubtful. Breaking free from sin is not easy, especially when all you've ever known is what has been passed down. Redefining yourself and staying strong can sometimes feel impossible. But the rewards are powerful and eternal.

Linda Ronstadt: Rock’s First Female Superstarname https://nonfictioninterviews.com/product/linda-ronstadt-rocks-first-female-superstarname/ https://nonfictioninterviews.com/product/linda-ronstadt-rocks-first-female-superstarname/#respond Sun, 10 Mar 2019 23:08:43 +0000 https://nonfictioninterviews.com/product/linda-ronstadt-rocks-first-female-superstarname/ Linda Ronstadt was born in Tucson, Arizona during the Truman Administration, one year after World War Two ended. She grew up listening to a wide array of musical styles, from Jazz to Country to Mariachi to Opera to early Rock & Roll. At the age of eighteen, she dropped out of college and headed to Hollywood in search of fame and success as a musician. Shortly afterward, she formed The Stone Poneys - a Folk Rock band responsible for the revolutionary and poignant classic 'Different Drum'. After three albums released on Capitol Records, the group disbanded in 1968 and Linda experienced several years of career ups and downs. In 1975, Ronstadt became a superstar with the explosion of Heart Like A Wheel, a shimmering aural masterpiece considered to be the blueprint of the Country Rock genre still in effect today. Linda became the most successful female singer of the 1970s, and, ultimately, one of the most successful recording artists of all time. As of 2014, Linda has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and has won 12 heralded Grammy Awards including the 2011 Lifetime Achievement honor. 2014 was also the year that she was inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and awarded The National Medal Of Arts from President Barack Obama. Despite losing her singing ability to Parkinson's Disease, Linda Ronstadt continues to influence people with her remarkable body of timeless recorded works. This is her story, penned by writer Mark Watson for the sake of posterity.

Our lives are so busy today and we are running around and always in a hurry. Sometimes we stop quickly...we never know when we will see it...and then we spot it, we stop in our tracks. It may be a vase that we have in our home and walk by it every day, a picture on the wall, an old wine bottle, a medal, a piece of jewelry, an old tea pot, a chair, or a chandelier hanging from the ceiling, something that reminds us or brings us back to a memory of a friend, a parent, a brother or sister, or husband or wife. That special someone who you thought would be around forever to share in your life, and then they were gone...We have little treasures at home - "keepsakes" that we hold, smell, look at, or even hug sometimes. The feelings we get of presence and love, we cannot describe, only feel. For these keepsakes help keep memories of our lost ones alive in our hearts, and knowing that they are very close to us in our everyday lives. Read these stories from these amazing people that share their most intimate feelings and memories of people that have died, and then pull out some of your keepsakes and know that your loved one is there very close to you. Shed a tear or bear a smile...and think and feel the memories of your "Keepsake"...

From two to four legged and feather and fur, our pets have always had a special place in our lives and hearts. They are with us in good times and in bad times, and they always know how we feel. They give us attention and love when they sense that we need it most. We tell them everything and they sit there and listen! It is unconditional love. We always know when they want a walk, need to go outside, want a treat or just to be petted. We spell words because they know what certain words mean! They even have a Christmas Stocking hanging from the fireplace mantle! We give them baths. They come back all clean and sometimes with sweet ribbons. They take the first opportunity to roll in dirt. They ignore us sometimes pretending not to care, but they know the sound of our tires when we drive in and then greet us. We see their faces getting white hairs and sometimes they have a challenge in getting up.... Then there are special service dogs that are priceless! They give hearing, sight, confidence, and motion to those in need. They are companions to all. When the time comes that we lose them for whatever reason, our heart aches due to the fact that we just lost a family member. We believe in Rainbow Bridge...enjoy these special stories from the heart that are near and dear to us. Enjoy these Unforgettable Faces and Stories!
