Ria is the main character in Tara Road. Ria actually lives on Tara Road in Dublin with her husband Danny and two children. She thought she lived a happy blissful life with no idea her husband was having an affair. Totally unexpected, her husband Danny, walks in one day and tells her he is leaving her to live with his pregnant girlfriend.

Simply by chance, Ria meet Marilynn, a woman from New England, who could not come to terms with her son’s death and has separated from her husband. The two women exchange houses for the summer with extraordinary consequences. They both learned that each other had dark secrets that had never been revealed. The two women fit into each other’s life styles and associate themselves with each other’s family and friends. It is a stirring story that keeps you on your toes the entire book.

This is great read. Losing this author in life is a terrible loss for the literary world. No one that I know of can write such beautiful, hauntingly unforgettable and enjoyable books as Maeve Binchy. This novel stays with you long after you put in down
