Ben Carson, author of One Nation was raised by a poor single mother in Detroit. Recently, Carson, after 35 years of a medical career as the director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at John Hopkins Hospital retired. Presently, Carson is a Washington Times Columnist and a contributor to the Fox News Channel. Carson is an author of five previous books which includes the New York Times bestseller, Gifted Hands. He also coauthored with his wife the much lauded book America the Beautiful. Carson is a former member of the President’s Council on Bioethics. Carson is also the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom – the highest civilian honor.
I would like to begin this particular book review with a dedication found in the front of Ben Carson’s book, One Nation. “Dedicated to the millions of Americans, who fought, sacrificed, and died to provide freedom and prosperity for us and our progeny.” The dedication is the content of Ben Carson’s book in a nutshell.
Ben Carson’s book, One Nation, begins with a quote from Carson himself; “In February 2013 I gave a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. Standing a few feet from President Obama, I warned my fellow citizens of the dangers facing our country and called for a return to the principles that made America great.” This quote resonates the basis of the entire book.
Carson writes in One Nation, that America is on a path of decline. This Carson writes is the result of the growing debt and deteriorating morals in our country. He states that our education system has had very little progress. Carson writes that Obamacare threatens the American people of health, liberty and a financial future. He writes that the media has been given the power to dictate to the people what is right and what is wrong to believe in and that America’s political correctness is out of control. His fervent cry is that Americans need to want what is right for our country whether we are democrats or republicans.
Carson writes in the book, One Nation that our grandchildren’s lives are in jeopardy because of the reckless spending, godless government, and mean spirited leaders in our government. Carson appeals to the American People for decency and common sense.
Ben Carson’s book brings the reader back to the goodness and greatness of what our America use to be. With Carson presently running for the presidential nomination, I think One Nation will wake up a lot of Americans. Great Book. “Wake up America.”
