Rita Weiss, author of 24 Hour Quilts, shares some of her favorite easy quilt patterns. Weiss’s friend, Elsie Kirch, helped Weiss prepare the quilts for the book along with a group of dedicated quilters. With each quilt pictured, they comes a set of directions, pattern, and the time it will involve to make it.

In the back of the book, Weiss gives the reader general directions for quilting. Without the general directions and perhaps a class or two on quilting, unless one is a complete natural innovative quilter, quilting would be impossible. Some of the patterns in her books are Rainbow Zig Zag, Log Cabin, Ragged Pinwheels, Christmas Fantasy, Floating Stars, Applique and many others.

24 Hour Quilts is a very basic tutorial on quilting. It makes quilting appear to be so easy and it truly is not. I have quilted now for over ten years and quilting is an acquired art that takes a lot of patience and teaching. I think the book lacked a lot of information one needs to learn how to quilt.
