Patrick Taylor, M.D. was born and raised in Bangor, County Down, in Northern Ireland. Taylor is a distinguished Medical researcher, sailor, model boat builder, and author. Taylor is also the author of Only Wounded, Pray for us Sinners, and Now in the Hour of our Death. He has also written An Irish Country Doctor, An Irish Country Village, An Irish Country Christmas, An Irish Country Girl, An Irish Country Courtship and A Dublin Student Doctor. Taylor now resides in British Columbia.

If you are a devoted reader such as I am, of Patrick Taylor’s books, you would know all about Doctor Fingal Flahertie O’Reilly. O’Reilly is a confronting general practitioner in a quaint little Irish Village called Ballybucklebo. Taylor in his book, A Dublin Student Doctor, turns the clock back in time to when O’Reilly is a young medical student. It explains why O’Reilly is who he is later in life. The book is full of Irish History during the 1930’s which makes this book even more interesting.

A Dublin Student Doctor, is a very touching story of humanity. The Globe and Mail said of the novel; “Patrick Taylor has become probably the most popular Irish-Canadian writer of all time.” It makes the reader feel like they have gone above and beyond to another time and another place. Great book.
