Bill O’Reilly, author of Killing Lincoln is the anchor of the O’Reilly Factor, the highest rated news show in the country. He also writes a syndicated newspaper column and is the author of several top selling books. He is considered the most talked about political commentator in America. Martin Dugard, the coauthor of Killing Lincoln, is the New York Times best- selling author of several books of history. Dugard’s book, Into Africa and The Epic Adventures of Stanley and Livingstone have been adapted into History Channel Specials.

O’Reilly, recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history – how one gunshot changed the country forever. President Abraham Lincoln has dreams and plans of healing a divided nation. However, one man is not appeased by Lincoln’s humanity and politics – John Wilkes Booth. Booth murders Abraham Lincoln at the Ford’s Theatre and becomes the most wanted fugitive in our country. The man hunt turns into a fiery shoot out and a series of court ordered executions. This included, the first woman ever to be executed by the United States government, Mary Surratt.

Killing Lincoln is a history book but more of a thriller for the reader. If some of the text books in schools that are mandatory reading were written like Killing Lincoln, we would have much more interested students. Good Read
