The Paleo diet, which is referred to in the book, Paleo For Beginners, has become popular in the last few years. However, the diet has been around for about 40 years.

The Stone Age diet, which is somewhat similar to the Paleo diet was published by Dr. Walter Voegtlin in 1975. Dr. Voegtlin was a gastroenterologist. The book did not become popular nor did the diet.

Ten years later, Dr. S. Boyd Eaton and Dr. Melvin Konner published a paper in The New England Journal of Medicine. The diet they published, supported the Stone Age Diet. The paper written by the doctors, received a great deal of attention and support from both the medical community and the media. This popular status of their findings, resulted in the two doctors publishing a book called The Paleolithic Prescription. This book established the diet and program today that is now called the Paleo Diet.

Basically when one is on the Paleo Diet, they eat like their ancestors did. The Paleo diet became a phenomenon. Included in the book, Paleo For Beginners, is a list of foods to shop for and purchase. The book recommends both foods to eat and foods to avoid. The book talks a great deal about getting your mind set and setting up your goals. The book also includes recipes for all meals, desserts and snacks.

I personally, have been off and on the Paleo Diet for about a year. The diet was recommended to me by my chiropractor, Dr. William Higgins. I felt great while I was on the diet. The diet also gave me considerable more energy. I highly recommend the book and the diet.
